How to annotate a screenshot on a Mac
An arrow or a short note turns a screenshot into an answer. You can do this with the Markup tools in macOS, or faster in ShotBloom, which opens its editor right after you capture.
With the built-in tools
- Take a screenshot with ⇧⌘4.
- Click the thumbnail in the corner of the screen.
- Use the Markup toolbar to add shapes, text or a signature.
The faster way, with ShotBloom
- Press ⇧⌘2 and select the area.
- Click Edit on the preview.
- Pick Arrow, Rectangle, Pen or Text and choose a colour.
- Drag to draw. For text, type and then drag the dots to resize or rotate it.
- Use the Highlighter to mark important numbers or words.
- Click Done & Copy. Undo works for every step.
Tips
- Use the vertical slider on the left to change the size of any tool.
- Everything stays editable in the library, so you can fix a typo later.
