Mac screenshot shortcuts: the complete list
macOS has several screenshot shortcuts. Here they all are, with what each one does, plus the shortcuts ShotBloom adds. The macOS ones keep working when ShotBloom is installed.
Built into macOS
- ⇧⌘3 captures the whole screen.
- ⇧⌘4 lets you drag to capture an area.
- ⇧⌘4, then Space, captures a single window.
- ⇧⌘5 opens the Screenshot toolbar with options and screen recording.
- Hold Control with any of these to copy to the clipboard instead of saving a file.
The faster way, with ShotBloom
- ⇧⌘2 captures an area and opens a preview you can edit.
- ⌥⇧⌘2 captures a window.
- ⇧⌘1 captures the full screen your pointer is on.
- ⌘N in ShotBloom adds any image from your Mac to edit.
- ⇧⌘C in the ShotBloom editor copies the finished image.
Tips
- ShotBloom copies every capture to the clipboard and saves it to Pictures/ShotBloom.
- You can also capture from the ShotBloom icon in the menu bar.
